    National Program for Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases & Stroke (NPCDCS)

    • NPCDCS was launched in the year 2010 with the objective to prevent and control major NCDs i.e. DM, HTN, Cancer and CVD & Stroke.
    • NPCDCS is focused on strengthening infrastructure, human resource development, health promotion, early diagnosis, management and timely referral of patients. Under the program, screening of individuals is conducted at all levels in the health care delivery system for early detection of diabetes, hypertension and common cancers.
    • District NCD Clinics have been established in District Hospitals of all 13 districts for opportunistic screening of patients for Hypertension, Diabetes and common Cancers. Universal Screening of Common NCDs is implemented for screening of all the persons above 30 years of age for Hypertension, Diabetes and common Cancers.
    • To provide Chemotherapy and Pain Management Services to the cancer patients, Cancer Day Care Units have been established in Almora, Chamoli, Champawat, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Tehri and Uttarkashi districts. Training to Medical Officers and Staff Nurses is also imparted at AIIMS, Rishikesh.
    • To provide treatment services to the patients suffering from heart diseases, Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) is established in District Hospital Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi.
    • Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP)
    • Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program is being implemented in the State with the objective to provide free dialysis services to BPL
    • Patients and Golden Card Holders of Atal Ayushman Yojna Uttarakhand and at affordable cost to APL patients.
    • Two new Dialysis Centres are made functional in District Hospital Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag apart from the seven centres functional in Base Hospital Almora, Coronation Hospital Dehradun, Mela Hospital Haridwar, Base Hospital Haldwani, Base Hospital Kotdwar, Base Hospital Srinagar and District Hospital Rudrapur (US Nagar).
    • MoU has been signed with The Hans Foundation to operationalize 03 existing Dialysis Centres in Almora, Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag and 11 new Centres in District Hospital Bageshwar, Champawat, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Trauma Centre Karanprayag (Chamoli), SDH Narendra Nagar (Tehri), SDH Roorkee (Haridwar), SDH Vikasnagar (Dehradun), G.B Pant Hospital Nainital, SDH Dharchula (Pithoragarh) and SDH Khatima (US Nagar). The Hans Foundation will provide dialysis services to all the patients free of cost.
    • To reduce out-of-pocket expenditure and travel time of the patients, Peritoneal Dialysis Services have been initiated in the State. To provide the initial treatment and training to the patients, Peritoneal Dialysis Unit is established in Doon Medical College, Dehradun. Services are provided free of cost to BPL patients and Golden Card Holders of Atal Ayushman Yojna Uttarakhand.

    National Mental Health Program (NMHP)

    • National Mental Health Program is being implemented in all the districts of Uttarakhand State with the objective to ensure the availability and accessibility of mental healthcare and treatment to all in government health facilities.
    • With the support of NIMHANS Bengaluru and AIIMS, Rishikesh, one year Diploma in Primary Care Psychiatry training has been imparted to 22 Medical Officers across the state to equip them with necessary skills to provide mental health treatment and counselling services.
    • With the support of 104 Helpline, telephonic calls requiring mental health counselling are being forwarded to Trained Counsellors. Counselling by trained counsellors is also provided to persons in Labour Homes and Quarantine Centres due to COVID-19.
    • Mental health treatment service is also provided to the patients through e-sanjeevani portal.

    National Oral Health Program (NOHP)

    • Major objective of the program is to improve the determinants of oral health, reduce morbidity from oral diseases and integrate oral health promotion and preventive services with general health care system.
    • To provide better and specialized oral health services to patients, dental units of all 13 District Hospitals and 36 selected CHCs have been strengthened.

    National Program for Health Care of Elderly (NPHCE)

    • National Program for Health Care of Elderly is being implemented in the State with the objectives to provide an easy access to promotional, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services to elderly people, build capacity of the medical and paramedical professionals and reservation of beds for elderly people in public hospitals.
    • To provide better IPD services to the patients, 10 bedded Geriatric Ward is established in one district level hospital in all 13 districts.
    • Dedicated OPD services are also provided to elderly patients in DH, SDH, CHC and PHC of all districts.
    • In financial year 2020-21, physiotherapy services for elderly patients have been strengthened in 38 selected CHCs of the State. In financial year 2021-22 physiotherapy services have been strengthened in 28 new CHCs of the State.
