The Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launched by the Prime Minister on 2nd October 2014, focuses on promoting cleanliness in public spaces. Cleanliness and hygiene in hospitals are critical to preventing infections and also provide patients and visitors with a positive experience and encourages moulding behavior related to clean environment. To complement this effort, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India launched a National Initiative (KAYAKALP) to give Awards to those public health facilities that demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control. Cash Award will be given to those facilities that score 70 % or more in each level of assessment through Kayakalp Assessment tool (Checklist) formed by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. I. Hospital/Facility Upkeep II. Sanitation and hygiene III. Waste Management IV. Infection control. V. Support Services VI. Hygiene Promotion The award will be given in three categories- 1. Best District Hospital in State 2. Best Sub District Hospital (SDH)/Community health Center (CHC) in State 3. Best Primary Health Center (PHC) in each district |
